[Review] Nailed Polish by Sleek - Oxford

Friday, February 26, 2010
Hi dear reader!

It's friday, it's rainy and my day started very slow. Then I received a package from Alice & Jo's Havesentials! I ordered it two days ago and from the ordering to payment, everything went great so that was a good experience. Alice & Jo's sells brands I've never heard of until recently, like Art de Lautrec and Sleek. Sleek was totally new for me so I decided to purchase three of them for testing, so here's a little review. :)

The one I'm showing you today is Sleek's Oxford. Oxford has a deep blue base colour and is packed with a little lighter blue shimmer, which makes it look very cool.

This is one coat. Isn't that amazing? I think I've never owned a polish that looks this good with only one coat. The formula was a little thick and that can be difficult for applying but I didn't experience any problems. If you find it too thick you can always add some thinner. Even though the polish was a little thick, it dried really fast. It's a good one for a quick mani.

Me, I'm a three coater. Most of the time I apply three coats, for colour reasons or to even the polish out but with this polish you definitly don't need three coats! This picture shows Oxford with two coats and is topped off with Nubar Diamont. With the top coat it's even more shinier, I like!

I took out my CG Matte Magic and this is how it looks matte. Seriously, most of the time I'm a bit disappointed the way shiny polish turns out matte but this one... It looks so silky.

You can buy the Sleek polishes for €3,18 (± $3,90). And guess what? They ship internationally! ;) I think it's a fair price for this polish. It might seem not that special to you with all the blues around but I think it's a good polish for a good price.

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more reviews of polishes I've never ever tried!

Recycle, Stripers, Studs and Rhinestones

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Hi dear reader!
How are you doing today? I'm feeling much better and I even wanted to play around with my nail art stuff, so that's a sign of getting better! ;) I told you yesterday I received a small nail art package, I've ordered it on Dollar Nail Art with a large group of ladies from the Dutch nail topic. I received black rhinestones, three kinds of studs and hex glitters and I've actually placed a new order because these are all so cute!

On the picture above you see what I've used for today's mani: China Glaze Recycle, Essence stripers Silver and Black, black rhinestones, silver round studs, a plastic stick, Essence top coat and Seche Vite.

I thought Recycle would make a neat base colour and so it did! It combines pretty good with the black and silver. I had some issues with it first, the formula was really thick and almost impossible to polish with but with a few drops of Seche Restore it was perfect! I made a three lines on my nails with the Essence stripers and placed the rhinestones and studs on my nail, using the plastic stick and the Essence top coat. I didn't use Seche Vite for it because I'm so slow with this and it would be dry after I placed my first stud. :') I used Seche to top it all off because it's a thick top coat and it really bugs me when I feel glitters, or in this case studs, on my nails. It made it a little less horrid. ;)

So, here are the pictures of the final result:

Neat eh? I'm still practicing with the stripers, sometimes I get really thick lines and that's something I want to avoid!

Tadaa! Wow, you've actually seen something very special today: the first time I'm showing my thumb on my blog! I never make pictures of it because recently my nail broke and now it's pretty grown back but it still makes me sad.

This one is shot in artificial light. Why? I don't know, I just like my nails now.

After all this was a succesful day for me and my nail art skills. ;)
What do you think?

Have a nice thursday!

OPI - You Don't Know Jacques! Suede

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Hello dear reader!

I hope you are all doing fine and enjoying today. My laptop cable broke today and I had to replace it. That little joke costed me €70, so that was a bummer! Good thing it was available though, or else I wouldn't be able to use my lappy. I did bought three GOSH polishes because I felt a little bad. ;)

I'd like to share OPI's You Don't Know Jacques! Suede with you today. I know this polish has been a huge blog hit, but it's too nice not to post about it. I was late on the matte/suede trend but I'm very happy I bought myself a matte top coat, now I'm really appreciating this awesome trend!

YDKJ! Suede is a lovely brown shade and it contains very pretty silver shimmer. This is what I like about suedes: they're not as flat as mattes, they are more 'alive'. The silver shimmer in it is really dense and you all know how much I love shimmer!

These pictures were taking under artificial light because the sun doesn't show, but the colour is almost the same in the pictures as it is on my nails. Applying this polish was easy-peasy; it just dries a little quicker so you might have to watch out for that. I applied two coats.

I also put top coat over YDKJ! Suede and that also looks stunning!

You see how the shimmer really comes forward? It's really really sparkly!

Thanks for stopping by, happy lacquering!

China Glaze - Millenium

Monday, February 22, 2010

Hi dear reader!
What a awful day it is: grey, raining and I'm sick. :( I really need the sun! But there's something that lights up my day: I have 100 followers! Yay! I did have some time swatching a few polishes and here's number one: China Glaze - Millenium.

Everyone is using Millenium as polish to stamp with. That isn't wrong because it really works great with Konad but it looks pretty darn funky when you polish your nails with it. I do feel this isn't a polish to wear when you're doing the things you do a regular day, but when you have a party it is great! I can see myself wearing this polish on New Years Eve or my birthday. ;)

Millenium is just a great silver metallic from the Khrome collection that I highly recommend buying (if you haven't done that already). The only thing I dislike about it is that it makes every single line, scratch and blemish visible on your nails, but you can solve that by using a good top coat. You can order it online at transdesign.com.

Thanks for visiting!

Zoya - Zara

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Hi dear reader!
How was your weekend? Mine was fine - very relaxing. Went to my internship today and it was nice. Too bad I'm having a serious cold! Spoils all the fun.

Currently I'm wearing Zara from the Zoya order I received a couple days ago. I must admit that I'm more into dark and bright colours than really light ones (you know, the light purples and pinks) so the first hour or so I wasn't that comfortable wearing this polish. Now, after one day, I'm really in love with it because it truly is an amazing polish. Zara has a lavender base colour, is full of golden shimmer and sometimes you see a golden glance. It's very pretty and it's definitly a colour for spring!

How do you feel about Zara?
Have a great sunday!

Zoya - Adina

Thursday, February 18, 2010
Goodmorning!

How are you doing? Hope you are all well! A little reminder that my Essence Giveaway is closing tomorrow. Thanks all for spreading the word and entering the giveaway!

I'm wearing Zoya's Adina today. What an amazing polish! It's really hard to photograph and the light isn't working with me either, so there will be a repost in the summer when there's plenty of sun.

As you can see, Adina is a fab looking duochrome. You really should click on the pictures for a better look at her. It is a purple based polish with green, pink and silver duochrome. There might be more colours hidden but I really can't tell, the light here isn't that good. :) When the light is dimmed it shows green and pink, in little light I receive from the sun it shows green, pink and silver. This is really an unique polish, I've never seen anything like it. In the pictures you see my tips showing through the polish but that isn't in person!

I also received Reece which is, according to a couple of blogs, a lookalike to China Glaze - Strawberry Fields so I'll do a comparison when I have the time. I'm very curious about those two!

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

OPI - Reflecting Pool

Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Hi reader!

I mentioned yesterday that I received OPI's Reflecting Pool and today I decided to swatch it. I first saw Reflecting Pool on Michèle's hands (!) and I decided I wanted that polish too. I ordered it a few days ago on ebay. Normally I'm waiting a lot longer when I order polishes on Ebay, so it was kind of a suprise when it got here that quickly. Oh wait, it was a suprise anyway because I forgot I ordered it. :')

Here you see three coats and the picture is taken in sunlight. Reflecting Pool is a very nice medium blue with dense gold shimmer. The finish is a bit foily which isn't really my favourite but with this baby I can handle!

AND! I recieved my Zoya order today, it got me all hyper and smiling like a little four year old. I'll swatch some of those in the upcoming days when I can find the time.

Have a nice day!

Essence - All Acces

Saturday, February 13, 2010
Hello reader!

I want to show you a polish that is featured in my giveaway: Essence All Acces. Essence has decided to discontinue this polish along with many others of the multi dimension colours. I think that is a WRONG thing to do, because most of the discontinued polishes are absolutely stunning and lots of people want them. When I heard All Acces was discontinued I ran to the shop and bought the last three bottles: two for me, one for the giveaway. And if you take a look at the picture, you'll understand why.

All Acces is a gorgeous shade of green. It isn't an ordinary green, it really has something special to it. There is also pretty green shimmer in it. All Acces is opaque after two layers and it applies really easy.

I decided to do some stamping as well. I stamped little flowers on my nails with Essie - Mint Candy Apple and plate M9. I find it quite hard to get every stamp on the same place on the nail but I guess that's just a matter of practice. I think it makes a nice combination! And Mint Candy Apple wasn't bad using as a stamping polish, it worked fine!

Have a nice day!

Konad & Valentine

Friday, February 12, 2010
Hello dear reader!

First of all, I'd like to say thank you for all those who've joined my giveaway and are spreading the word! That's very sweet! Yesterday I was practicing with Konad again and this time I used a full nail plate for the first time. Guess what? It looks pretty good!

I used ORLY Midnight Star as my base colour and stamped with Konad's special polish Pastel Pink. Plate M71 is one of my favourite plates, I love the lacey stamps. I also think it makes a cute Valentine mani. I know it's a bit early, but...

Happy Valentine!

Diamond Cosmetics - Cherry Tobacco

Monday, February 8, 2010
Hello dear reader!
How are you today? I hope this monday was a good one for you, it's always hard to start up after the weekend. It was a cold day today but the sun was shining so that gave me the opportunity to shoot some pictures of the nailpolish I'm wearing: Diamond Cosmetics Cherry Tobacco.

Cherry Tobacco is a really nice polish. The base colour is a blackened red. There is also red shimmer in it. It looks like it's lit from within and it gives a really nice glow to your nails. Diamond Cosmetics polishes apply really good and I love the colours they have. I might order a few new ones pretty soon.. :)

That's it for now. Thanks for visiting!

Grey

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Yesterday, I bought the cutest grey boots that I've seen in a long time. Today, I looked outside and everything looked grey to me because of the pouring rain. So, what do you do? You put some grey nailpolish on your nails!

I chose ORLY Mirror Mirror. This is two coats, it applies really smooth and after applying one coat it was almost opaque. My hands look a bit unhealthy, but that's not because I don't take care of them, it's because of the awful cold weather. They hate the cold, rain and snow!

Which grey do you prefer? And are you having as much trouble as I have keeping my hands winter safe?

Welcome!

Monday, February 1, 2010
Welcome to my blog! First, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Michelle, a 21 year old girl from the Netherlands. For fourteen years, I have been biting my nails very bad but I'm 'clean' now for six months. And ever since I stopped biting them, I'm a nail freak.

Here's a picture of my nails today:

OPI Dating a Royal, I used a sponge and Absolutely Alice for the tips. Three coats of DaR and one coat Alice.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll enjoy my blog!
