Catrice - Oriental Orange

Thursday, July 29, 2010
Hi everyone! Today the second polish of the Catrice Caramé collection. I really like the idea of this collection - it's based on an evening stroll on the bazaar - and I think they've come up with great colours. Especially the bronzes in this collection got my attention but after trying out Oriental Orange I'm glad I didn't missed this one!

Catrice Oriental Orange

Oriental Orange isn't a true orange, it's more of an orange toned red jelly. Yes: jelly! I love jelly finishes and this is no exception, it's really glossy. I wanted to build this one and see if I could get it opaque but after four coats I still had a visible nail line. But who cares, that's a common fact when wearing jellies and it doesn't disturb me at all. Application was smooth and the Catrice brush is one of my favourites.

Conclusion? Worth buying! Just think of this: great price tag (€2,49), cute bottle, limited edition and it's a jelly. WIN.

Zoya - Ivanka

Monday, July 26, 2010
Hey guys! How was your weekend? Hope you had a good one. Today I'm showing you another polish from Zoya's Sparkle collection. I've showed you Charla before and today it's Ivanka's turn!

Zoya Ivanka Sparkle Collection

Ivanka is a green jelly that is packed with gold and green glitter. It's hard for me to turn down a green, I absolutely love almost every single green colour, but this one is my new number one on the green list. The sparkle, the glow, the glitters. It's absolutely amazing. Zoya did a great job on these sparkles. In the picture I'm wearing three thin coats of Ivanka. The application was good, maybe a little watery, but I had no problems with it.

Zoya Ivanka Sparkle Collection China Glaze Matte Magic

Meet Ivanka in matte. I've used China Glaze Matte Magic to mattify this pretty and it's also very pretty. The golden glow stays when matte and that makes it really nice. What else is there to say?!

How do you feel about Ivanka and the rest of the Sparkle collection?

Zoya Jade

Hi all! Meet Zoya Jade, not a green as you might expect but a red. I'm not a huge fan of red polishes but once in a while one catches my attention - and this one did. I saw Jade on a blog first, can't remember which blog, and I just had to have it.

Jade is a bright fire truck red jelly packed with red glitter. It's really gorgeous, I'm not telling a lie, no! This red is one of the best reds I've ever come across. Jade applied good and with every layer you put on it gives you  more and more of glitter fun. I'm wearing three coats in the pictures.

Now tell me, what is your favourite red?

Zoya - Charla

Monday, July 5, 2010
Good afternoon everyone! I'm happy to announce you all can visit my blog on http://www.thelacquerfiles.com/! My laptop is still gone and missed dearly but luckily there's a desktop downstairs so I can upload my pictures and keep on blogging. :)

Today I want to show you Zoya's Charla. This polish is from the Zoya Sparkle Collection and I bet you've seen this one a thousand times but it's so pretty, it would be wrong not showing it again!

Zoya Charla Sparkle Collection 2010
Charla in daylight, three coats

Charla's base is a medium blue jelly and it's packed with glass flecked glitter in blue, gold and green. It's absolutely stunning - you want to add more and more layers of it because it gets better every time! Application was good and it dried pretty fast. This is one for my favourites list!

This is Charla topped with China Glaze's Matte Magic. As you can see, the polish still has that gorgeous blue and green, it makes me think of the ocean. What is your take on Charla?

Have a nice day!

Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics Review

Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Hi dear reader!
I received three polishes of Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics. These were sent to me by Alice & Jo's. They received these polishes as samples and they asked me for an opinion about them.

All lined up! Here you see Pop My Cherry, Man Chaser and Virginal Pink. I love the names Cheeky Monkey gives to their polishes, they crack me up.

There is a little motivational card attached to each polish. They make me smile and I have to say that I agree with them! Very cute!

First up is Virginal Pink, a sweet, light coloured pink. I'm not sure how virginal looks like in colour but I guess this comes close haha. I'm wearing four coats in the picture, yes, four! This polish wasn't covering at all and applying it was awful: too thin and streaky.

I know this polish is ment to be a little sheer, but I dislike sheers and I wanted to build it. Didn't work, too bad.

Here you see Pop My Cherry. Jelly goodness! Unlike Virginal Pink this applied amazingly good and for a moment I was in polish heaven. I'm wearing three coats in the picture. Pop My Cherry is a really bright, vibrant red, and it's super shiny.

I tested this polish in the weekend and I must say that I was impressed. Normally I change my mani every day (chipping and tipwear - I'm too clumsy for long nails) but I wore this one two days. No tipwear, no chipping. Wow. (Sad how impressed I am when other people wear their mani's for 3 days or more, haha!)

Last but not least: Man Chaser. I love this one, seriously I do. I'm not a pink fan but this... It has blue shimmer in it and that makes this pink special! This polish was also great to apply, not too thick or thin. I'm wearing three coats.

What to say? I'm not disappointed by these polishes except for Virginal Pink, but hey, there's a rotten apple in every collection right? ;) If you're interested in Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics you can always have a look on their site. Please pay attention to the polish names, they're funny!

Oh, and in case you were wondering: I had a file accident, that's why I'm having a bloody line on my pinky.

That's it for now, happy polishing today!
Michelle

Welcome!

Monday, February 1, 2010
Welcome to my blog! First, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Michelle, a 21 year old girl from the Netherlands. For fourteen years, I have been biting my nails very bad but I'm 'clean' now for six months. And ever since I stopped biting them, I'm a nail freak.

Here's a picture of my nails today:

OPI Dating a Royal, I used a sponge and Absolutely Alice for the tips. Three coats of DaR and one coat Alice.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll enjoy my blog!
