New from Pieces?

Hey everyone! On Friday I also went into town and stumbled upon polishes from Pieces I had never ever seen before so to me they are new. But are they really new as in omg-new-release-wow-wow-wow!-new? I don't know, so if you can enlighten me, please do.


I picked up three colours: Ms Jagger Green, Metropolitan Sky Blue and Golden Chokolate. The last one is the one I'm showing you today!


Golden Chokolate (why are they spelling it with a K? I don't like that, I want the K to be a C!) is a dark brown based polish, absolutely packed with golden shimmer. On the picture above, that is made in normal daylight, you can see the shimmer peeping through a little but this is not that impressive when you've seen it being hit by the sun.


Voila. It's awesome, it's so glowy and such a rich colour. I think this is perfect for fall and winter! Application was pretty good, I liked the formula because it wasn't thin or thick: exactly in the middle, just how I like it. I needed three coats for this one to be opaque. The only thing I dislike, the same as I told you about Wet n Wild, is that the caps and brushes are small. I like my brushes to be long and have a cap that I can hold on to. It's not impossible to polish with these caps but it tends to bring a little more irritation haha.


I bought the three polishes at the Pieces store for €6.95. The polishes cost €2.95 each so when you want to buy more I'd buy three. It's a little cheaper. :o) It's not expensive, they offer a nice variety of colours and I don't have issues with the application so it does no harm when you want to try.

Misa - When U Say My Name

Hey everyone! As promised a swatch from a polish I received two days ago as an early birthday present. :-) I wanted some polishes for my birthday so my parents told me to pick out what I wanted, awesome! I really wanted some polishes from Misa's new collection, What I Like About You, so it's not strange I chose some of them. First up, When U Say My Name!


When U Say My Name is a gorgeous brown with copper shimmer. It gives the polish so much warmth! I don't wear browns a lot and most of them I really dislike but this is definitely one that is amazing and everyone should have. I ordered this because I thought it looked great with gold Konad but it's just as pretty on its own.


Seems I was right, I think it looks absolutely gorgeous with gold! I've used China Glaze 2030 and Konad Imageplate M71.

I'd also like to tell you about a more serious issue. I have been in a shit situation the past week due to a death of a really great and inspiring person and it was really unexpected. Because of that I didn't had the chance of speaking with him before he died and that is something I really regret. Unfortunately I can't change that but I can change my regret into something different. I can say to myself that he knows that I admire him and that I care about him. The thing I want to say with this is that when something bad happens you can change that by your way of thinking. Try to make the negative positive and even though that's something very hard to do, you will feel better.

From real life to virtual life it's the same. Things that happen on the internet are most of the time not that important and shouldn't be seen as really life changing but when something does affect you talk to that person. Don't treat each other like crap and let someone be. Be smart, funny and positive. Don't do things you might regret later.

Catrice - Bronzed Brown

Hi everyone! As some of you might know, Catrice has a new limited edition collection called the Catrice Caramé collection. These colours are based on an evening stroll on the bazaar. The polishes that came out in this collection are Bronzed Brown, Spiced Bronze, Oriental Orange and Berry Bazaar.

This is Catrice Bronzed Brown, a warm shimmery brown. Unlike some of Catrice's core polishes, this one was not so thick and it was easy to apply. I really like the brush because it's not too small or too big: it's right in the middle! I needed two coats of this one to get an opaque result.

I don't wear browns that much but I think I'll wear this one a lot in fall. The Catrice polishes cost €2,49 which is incredibly cheap for good quality polishes like this. If you want to buy yourself one or you're looking for someone to do a CP for the pretties from the LE make sure you'll be there on time. Before you know it they're gone!

Color Club - Revvvolution

Hi all! I really don't know what is up with me because every time the weather changes I start to get sick. I didn't sleep last night due to nothing, I just couldn't, and today the sore throat I've had since last Friday really starts to hurt like crazy. The weather is still great and sunny so time for more great holographic polish!

Color Club's Revvvolution is a dark grey holo from the Spring 2009 collection called Femme Fatale. In the shade it doesn't look that special but wait till you see this pretty in sunlight!

POW! In your face! It's gorgeous. My camera really has issues with holographic polishes, the pictures don't come out as good as I'd like to but this gives you an idea. Revvvolution applies good, the consistency of the polish is exactly spot on and it also dries fast. Mine was opaque and even with two coats.

Of course I had to compare this one with Chainmail Charm. I've heard people say that these two are completely the same but they aren't. Chainmail Charm has a brown base instead of a dark grey one. They do look very similar so I wouldn't say it's necessary to own them both but... they're both pretty and slightly different so come on. It isn't that bad owning them both, right? ;o)

Owl Manicure

Hi dear reader!

I wanted to do this design for Daph's nail art contest but the one I did wasn't great so I never sent it in. Now the contest is closed and I did a new owl mani yesterday.

I used American Apparel - Mouse as my base colour. After that was dry I created the contours of the head and wings with OPI - Over the Taupe. I used a small paint brush for this.

After I created the contours I took a smaller paint brush and created the feathers using three brown colours: Diamond Cosmetics - Decadence, American Apparel - Mouse mixed with China Glaze - White Out and OPI - Over the Taupe mixed with China Glaze - Liquid Leather. I created the feathers by pulling the brush over the contours and base colour and tap a little.

The eyes are created with China Glaze's White Out and Liquid Leather. A dottingtool is very handy when it comes to creating nice dots. The beak is an orange striper.

Diamond Cosmetics - Decadence

Hi dear reader!

I've been receiving a few good packages these last few days and I had so much trouble chosing what to wear! One of my orders was one at Boozyshop, a Dutch webshop where us Dutchies can get the Diamond Cosmetics polishes. I love the DC's I own so there's always room for a little more!

Meet Decadence! Decadence is a very pretty rich brown shade packed with shimmer: it's almost foily. The shade of the brown makes me think of chocolate and the shimmer in it gives it this amazing sparkle. To be honest, most DC shimmers are amazing. They really know how to work it! Application was good but I've never had any troubles with DC polishes. The cap of the bottle is easy to handle and the texture of the polish is smooth, making it easy to apply.

Peacock Nails

Hi dear reader!

I've made this mani a few weeks ago for the nail art contest over at Daph's blog. For my inspiration I used two pictures of a peacock; one with the feather detail and one full. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, especially after working on it with a whole awful lot of polishes.

I can't remember all the polishes I've used but the base colour is OPI's Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow. For the feathers I took out OPI's Over the Taupe. The different tones of green are OPI's Who the Shrek Are You? and Fiercely Fiona, China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle and a nameless Maybelline. The blues I've used are OPI's DS Fantasy, DS Sapphire and What's With the Cattitude and China Glaze's Sexy in the City. I topped it with Chanel's Illusion D'Or.

For the peacock itself I started out with OPI's Fiercely Fiona and create a little depth with Who the Shrek Are You?, China Glaze's Emerald Sparkle and the nameless Maybelline. The blue is, like the feathers, OPI DS Fantasy. The peacock's beak is China Glaze 2030. In the feathers is also a hint of brown: OPI's Over the Taupe and Espresso Your Style! Again, this one is made glittery with Chanels Illusion D'Or and China Glaze's Golden Enchantment. I used a tiny paintbrush when applying the different polishes.

The result:

I'm liking the outcome! This was a first for me, creating the peacock using different shades and I think it worked out pretty well. And of course I'm happy I can show you now haha!

OPI - Espresso Your Style!

How was the start of the week for you? Mine was a regular schoolday and I didn't have time to swatch something or doing anything creative so here's a mani I swatched in the weekend: OPI's Espresso Your Style!



I was craving for this colour soooo bad. I mean, look at the lovely golden dark brown shade! The golden shimmer makes this polish so rich, and, in my opinion quite unique because I've never layed my hands on a pretty brown like this.

This picture is shot in artificial light because there is a lack of sun again in the Netherlands, too bad I'm a sucker with artificial lighting so therefore this picture looks a bit.. vague. I'll definitly swatch this one again when the sun is shining. It applied good and I love the wide brush. I'm wearing three layers in the picture.

OPI - You Don't Know Jacques! Suede

Hello dear reader!

I hope you are all doing fine and enjoying today. My laptop cable broke today and I had to replace it. That little joke costed me €70, so that was a bummer! Good thing it was available though, or else I wouldn't be able to use my lappy. I did bought three GOSH polishes because I felt a little bad. ;)

I'd like to share OPI's You Don't Know Jacques! Suede with you today. I know this polish has been a huge blog hit, but it's too nice not to post about it. I was late on the matte/suede trend but I'm very happy I bought myself a matte top coat, now I'm really appreciating this awesome trend!

YDKJ! Suede is a lovely brown shade and it contains very pretty silver shimmer. This is what I like about suedes: they're not as flat as mattes, they are more 'alive'. The silver shimmer in it is really dense and you all know how much I love shimmer!

These pictures were taking under artificial light because the sun doesn't show, but the colour is almost the same in the pictures as it is on my nails. Applying this polish was easy-peasy; it just dries a little quicker so you might have to watch out for that. I applied two coats.



I also put top coat over YDKJ! Suede and that also looks stunning!



You see how the shimmer really comes forward? It's really really sparkly!
