Color Club - Uptown Girl

Saturday, July 10, 2010
Hi everyone! Another day of bizarre heat, I'm really hoping for a thunderstorm later today. Also this is post number 100, so yay! Hope to bring you more and more enjoyable posts.

Viva La Nails Flowers Nail Art StickersA few weeks ago I've placed an order at Viva La Nails. You've probably heard about this company - they send out free promotion packages for bloggers. They were really fast with sending and amazingly generous: I've received a lot of different things such as rhinestones, decals, stickers, hex glitters and more!

In this mani I used stickers I've received from Viva La Nails. These are soooo cute! It's a black flower with a purple stone in it and smaller white stones on the side. They look like raindrops.

The polish used in my mani is Color Club's Uptown Girl from the 2010 Rebel Debutante collection. It's a soft dusty lilac creme that applied very well. The Color Club's I own all have a fantastic formula and I really want to own more of those babies!

Like I showed in my first nail art tutorial stickers are really easy to use and they can give that small extra to your manicure. I'm falling for it, are you?

OPI - Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow Suede

Friday, July 9, 2010
Hi everyone! Last year OPI brought out six amazing suedes and today I'm showing you their latest addition! Here Today,  Aragon Tomorrow is originally from the Coleccion de Espana that was brought out in fall 2009. I got this from Margot after I sent her some polishes.

Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow is a gorgeous darker green suede. This feels like another formula than the previous suedes. It's less pigmented - first coat was really watery, the shimmer is much more dense and this looks kind of dusty to me. I did prefer applying this suede, it was much easier. Drying time was the same as the other suedes. This suede version is less darker than the original.

I applied one coat of Nubar Diamont and this makes the polish amazingly beautiful. It so shiny and shimmery, I love it!

Comparison OPI Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow and Zoya Veruschka
Comparing with Zoya Veruschka

I've did a comparison of Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow Suede and Zoya's Veruschka (left on the wheel). Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow is much dustier: Veruschka is a deeper green. Other than that they are not that different from each other. Which one do you prefer?

Have a nice day!

Nail Art Tutorial: Flowers

Thursday, July 8, 2010
Hi everyone! I've been thinking a lot of doing nail art tutorials and this is the first I'm going to show you! I want to show you that creating something artsy isn't that hard and everyone can do it. I'm starting with an easy one, creating flowers on your nail by using stickers and a striper.

First you make sure your nails are clean. After that the basic steps follow: a base coat and a base colour. I choose China Glaze For Audrey as my base colour.

When that is done, you want to create the flower stalks. I used a striper for this but it can also be done using a thin paintbrush.

There are lots of stripers out there. You've got the long stripers, the thick ones, thin ones, short ones and a mix of these. I prefer the long, thin stripers. For me those are the easiest to create thin stripes with.

When using the striper, be careful there isn't a lot of polish on it. If so, a big blob of polish will fall off and ruin the manicure or you'll get uneven, thick stripes. Flower stalks aren't completely straight: if you can't create a perfect, neat line that's okay!

Done! See how simple it really is? Now it's time to add the flowers!

Flowers can be created many ways. You can use a dotting tool, a paintbrush, a toothpick, konad, rhinestones and more. I've used simple ones: Essence nail art stickers. I've picked these up in the local drugstore but I'm sure there are lots of different flower stickers available.

I use a stick to pick up the stickers so the sticky side stays sticky. My stick is made from metal but you can also use a toothpick or rosewood stick, whatever comes in handy. With this stick you place the stickers easily on your nail, just gently lay it on your nail and press it on your nail by turning the stick and pulling it off the sticker - also gently! After that you can seal it with a top coat so the stickers last longer.

The result. Now I never want to hear anyone say that nail art is hard! ;)

Zoya - Jade

Zoya Jade

Hi all! Meet Zoya Jade, not a green as you might expect but a red. I'm not a huge fan of red polishes but once in a while one catches my attention - and this one did. I saw Jade on a blog first, can't remember which blog, and I just had to have it.

Jade is a bright fire truck red jelly packed with red glitter. It's really gorgeous, I'm not telling a lie, no! This red is one of the best reds I've ever come across. Jade applied good and with every layer you put on it gives you  more and more of glitter fun. I'm wearing three coats in the pictures.

Now tell me, what is your favourite red?

Wet n Wild - Night Prowl

Wednesday, July 7, 2010
Hi everyone! How's your wednesday so far? I'm taking it easy and enjoying the weather. Recently I had a swap with Karrie from Beautopia and she picked up a lot of stuff from my wishlist. I was so excited! One of the polishes she sent was Wet n Wild's Night Prowl, a black transparent base with magenta glitters.

It's really pretty and my picture doesn't do it justice. The glitters shine through the black which is really a good thing and in sunlight it really sparkles. I had no troubles applying this and it was even with three coats.

Karrie has sent me much more goodies. I'll show you some smaller pictures but you can click on them for a larger view and description.

Karrie, it was a pleasure swapping with you, thanks for the fun and the effort, and not to forget the sweets you've send along! :)
