Nail Art Contest: Let The Voting Begin!

Thursday, April 1, 2010
Hi dear reader!

Have I got something to show you! Below are the entries for the bugs nail art contest, the pictures are clickable so please click on them and let them show you the goodness these ladies have created.

First up is Linnie from Linnie's Favorites. She created a nice little story about The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Karin from Romika's Nails made a spider mani. I don't like spiders much but in this mani, I do!

Here we have Michèle from Lacquerized aka the lady who says she can't pull of nail art. Boy, is she wrong! This mani is inspired on a Monarch butterfly.

Mirjam from Colour Victim made an awesome caterpillar mani!

Look at the cute ladybugs! Lisa from Bottle of Polish created them.

Kelly Rianne from Kelly's Nail Stash decided to make some funky beezzzz!

Rhea created a lovely butterflies mani.

Tierney's Alice in Wonderland mani ;)

Tassa created some funky skittled butterflies!

And last, but certainly not least: Katrina from Katrina's Nail Blog created these sweet bugs!

You can vote till april 8, 11:59 pm GMT. I've created a poll for this in my sidebar.
Make sure to check out their blogs as well!

Thanks for all the ladies who've participated and good luck! You can now post your lovely mani's on the webs.
Let the voting begin :)

Michelle

OMG! I was going to enter but ran out of time. Good thing I didn't, I was also going to go with the monarch butterfly pattern, almost EXACTLY the same idea as Michèle's from Lacquerized, except in orange.

Her's is much...much better than mine would have been! I attached a photo of the "concept art" sketch I did on my nails to see how it'd turn out. Michele pulled it off beautifully, I can't believe we had the same idea! How on earth did she get the lines so neat and perfect?!

Everyone: great entries! You ladies were super creative. This will be a hard one to vote for...

What's with Rhea's vote ??? In 6 days she had less than 10 votes as the others (beside Michèle & Tassa), and suddenly a day later she goes up to almost 100, how could it happen, either a bug or someone abusing votes for her ? >_< But whoever did that isn't really smart, since it's so visible & obvious...

rhea said...

Well, if it's a bug, it's not quite in my hands. I can do basically nothing about it.
We are allowed to post it on our webs, I just realised that yesterday, so I posted about it on my blog just a day ago. My Dad did so on his webpage too. If my friends wanted to vote, I wasn't gonna tell them not to, no one would.
But now I've taken back my request for votes as it's better not to get votes than have to read comments like these :L

I see how you would assume that she cheated but if you really have no proof then why accuse someone of it ,Kyosuke?

Mikolas said...

You should not be jealous if someone's votes increase,as the blog is open to all for viewing and the same system cant cast a second vote. It just shows a persons insecurity & unprofessionalism if you accuse someone of rigging.I totally disagree with Kyosuke and her comments.

Sharone said...

Kyosuke, how are you so confident, can you prove our allegations ??

Sharone said...

Rhea, i'm with you,Kyosuke's views are baseless & unwarranted.

Lol! Sweeeeet people, I'm still figuring it all out. The votes went up really quickly and I was wondering the same but due to my lack of time I haven't even contacted Rhea about it.

Let it rest. I'll post the outcome of it on my blog.

That was me. :')

Well, drama drama...

So first: I'm really sorry Rhea that some people did not understand me. I'm really sorry for whatever consequence I may have brought.

But I just NEVER implied you did it. I implied it was suspect, really suspect, and did not even react first, just saw it once (when you had like 40 votes) then saw a message later on Twitter & saw the result a second time, almost 100 votes. Again, I never implied you did, though I did honestly (and that was my bad - I apologize -, but I wasn't alone, again) thought it couldn't be real because it suddenly appeared one day before the end of the vote.

It could have been anyone (or a bug - I did write this-), not liking some contestant & willing to change the result or any other weird reason, but I certainly not did say it was you. Now I understand how it happened, and I'm again sorry, but I can't help the fact it was sudden and massive... And I'm sorry that some people think I do accuse you of cheating, I never did.

I also apologize to Michelle for what happened :'(

rhea said...

Awww, don't take it to heart. I do know you did not directly accuse me, and I told Michelle in my email that I did understand that. I know you did not say it was me, don't worry yourself.
I'm being honest, I did do a lot to spread the word, but I don't know exactly which method helped me the most.
I know it could be a bug, but I'd rather that it's not, cuz it was nice thinking that all those people out there were voting for me. If it's a bug, then blah, sheeeesh, it would be a real dissapointment.
Though,I would just like to point something out, I noticed there are still 2 days left to vote.

It's anyways impossible to cast more than one vote from each computer, try it out yourself. You cannot do that, whatsoever.
I do agree it was massive, but that's what happens when you combine my social circle, my dad's and uncle's social circles, And when my friends spread the word too. To be honest, the number of votes I received after all that was actually lesser than I expected, but whatever.

I do not blame you for your assumptions though, I should have spread the word from the very beginning to avoid all this, but I wanted to be absolutely sure that it wasn't wrong to do so.

Kyosuke said...

It wasn't wrong, just bad timing. Votes end today, it happened right before :) Nobody wondered about how fast Michèle & Tessa increased since the beginning ^^ But in the end you also did it right in time for your readers to vote :) I hope they also discovered Michelle's blog & liked it :)
And it's not a bug since you explained it. You have those votes cause many people care for you and do think you did something great, nobody's going to deny that now.

To be honest I like it too but I would have prefered normal light, and not that blueish effect, to see something you'd actually wear during your day but I can't say it was bad, it is a very good entry :) And that's a personnal opinion only, other will think it's even better presented this way :)

rhea said...

thanx. But look at the poll, voting does not end today. there are 2 days left =)

rhea said...

Oh, & I did the blue thingy cuz it makes my cuticles look better, not as dry.

Kyosuke said...

Well Michelle wrote "You can vote till april 8, 11:59 pm GMT." :p I did not noticed the poll's ending day before in fact :p
